Slogan

Your Preferred Manufacturing Hub

The Association of Ghana Apparel Manufacturers (AGAM) is a business network and advocacy association for companies working in the production of Garments, Apparel, Textiles and related products in Ghana.

While Accra is a hub for us, we represent businesses across Ghana and offer help to members wherever the factory may be in the country.

Some of our member companies have been in existence for over two decades, and over that time have been forging links across industry to connect professionals and create opportunities for apparel and garment production businesses.

When it comes to clothing, Ghana has a long tradition of bespoke tailoring; more recently, clothing businesses in Ghana have been leveraging this culture and the expertise around it to create scale, and increasingly move into mass production. Our member businesses have grown organically with this shift. Some of our members started out with fewer than ten machines, and have now grown into factories with over a hundred machines.

In 2017, we established AGAM to help support this move to mass production.

Similarly, our scope has grown. Our members have a strong history of producing clothing, from fashion lines for men’s wear, women’s wear and children’s wear, to uniforms for school, security services, private sector staff and medical scrubs, but recent years have seen our member businesses grow into areas such as pet products, PPE production and full ranges of accessories.

The majority of our members are young, dynamic, female-led businesses. We primarily employ women and workers from the youth sector, including workers with disabilities. We have the energy and the vision to make Ghana a global hub for apparel manufacturing.

International Future

While Ghana’s garment industry thrives domestically, trade within Africa has been accelerating. The creation of a free trade area under AFCFTA throughout Africa has introduced exciting possibilities for our apparel manufacturers, and AGAM is fully poised to explore the opportunities.

AGAM members are also looking for opportunities abroad. Currently, we have strong trade connections with markets in the US, and also in Europe, especially Germany, Italy and the UK. Part of AGAM’s mission is to introduce the benefits of manufacturing apparel in Ghana to the international market.
